Esra Tasali, MD

Dr. Tasali is a Professor of Medicine in the Section of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine within the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago. Her research program focuses on the role of insufficient sleep in the development of metabolic diseases, including type 2 diabetes and obesity. Dr. Tasali has extensive experience investigating the links between sleep loss and metabolic dysfunction through a range of approaches, including experimental laboratory models in healthy individuals, clinical studies in patients with obstructive sleep apnea, and field studies examining energy metabolism in individuals at risk for diabetes and obesity.
